The F3 has been a staple on the track for years and has just recently (in February 2017) taken the number one spot for the United States in the Australian Superpole. An agile, responsive and fast bike, the F3 can handle street riding just as well, and is sure to give riders a thrilling experience.

Technically speaking, the F3 is quite impressive. It is powered by a three-cylinder 800cc engine that is incredibly compact, narrow and light and supported by some innovative gadgetry. Like its Italian competitor, Moto Guzzi, the MV Agusta employs ride-by-wire technology for better fuel efficiency and control. The MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) lets riders choose between Sport, Normal, Rain and Custom modes as they see fit. The F3 800 is the first mid-weight motorcycle to feature full ride by wire technology. The F3 also employs a sophisticated traction control system that allows the rider to adjust between an astonishing eight levels. The transmission boasts what some claim to be the best shift-assist on the market today, the EAS 2.0, that provides the rider with flawless shifting through a system that is generally used only on racing bikes. Including this feature on their street bikes is more than a luxury as it adds extra control and confidence.

Brembo brakes are supported by an ABS Bosch 9 Plus Race RLM, which includes a rear axle lift mitigation system and packs quite a necessary punch. Although the bike is relatively easy to handle, it is not recommended for new riders. The F3 is best ridden by intermediate to experienced riders who can hone their already existing skills while enjoying the brute force of this powerful motorcycle. Suspension is handled by Marzocchi in front and Sachs in the rear, both fully adjustable. The comfort and safety is enhanced by Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires as well as a manageable weight of just 381 pounds (dry).

Designed by MV Agusta’s Reparto Corse (Racing Department), the F3 RC is built for speed and inspired by the F4 RC, currently competing in the World Superbike Championship. The RC also sports the color scheme and graphics (including the number “37”, a nod to the amount of world titles MV Agusta has achieved over the years) of the F4 RC superbike and eye-catching red wheels. In addition, the F3 RC was produced in a very limited number of only 350 units with a signed certificate of origin and each bike comes with a track-only kit, which includes the following:

• SC Project carbon fiber silencer with carbon fiber heel guard and aluminum silencer support brackets
• Race ECU with a dedicated mapping to maximize the increase in performance (153 horsepower at 13,250 rpm on the F3 800 RC
• Rear set cowl for a single seat
• Machined from billet brake and clutch levers
• Included are a rear sprocket for race track gearing, and a rear stand and motorcycle cover are for maintenance purposes.

Notable updates to the F3 RC include engine redesigns like revisions to the balance shaft, the primary gearing, the intake cam profiles and the valves; overhauled six-speed transmission for easier shifting; redesigned exhaust (based on the World Supersport race bikes); new engine covers for protection and noise reduction; a shorter wheelbase and a new mounting point between the trellis frame and the three-cylinder engine for increased rigidity.

MV Agusta worked hard to improve the performance of their signature 3-cylinder engines to meet new emissions compliance rules. The Euro 4 certification allowed the company to make some significant improvements without compromising the power, integrity and engineering of their motorcycles. The final result is a testament to the company’s excellent engineers and designers as the new emissions regulations called for drastically reduced gas and noise emissions, which the company achieved by 50 percent and 48 percent respectively.

The F3 is both intuitive and agile, making it perfect for getting out onto twisty mountain roads where it handles itself stealthily. With its unmistakable racing silhouette, this bike is bound to draw the attention of riders and non-riders alike, so be prepared to answer a lot of questions and requests for photos.
