All of MV Agusta’s models are bikes that will get attention wherever you take them. The Italians know design, from clothing and architecture to automobiles and the Dragster is a fine example of sleek, minimalist beauty on two wheels.
Known as a “naked” for its bare bones styling, the Dragster is free of farings that would otherwise hide the beauty of the bike. Add a beautifully sculpted tank, comfortable saddle, exposed triple exhaust and a minimalist trellis frame and you have a motorcycle that is literally saying, “Look at me!” Aesthetically, motorcycles don’t get any more breathtaking than the Dragster RC, which is literally a rolling piece of art. In November of 2017, the Dragster RC was voted one of the three most beautiful bikes of the year at the EICMA motorcycle show.
Designed by MV Agusta’s Reparto Corse (Racing Department), the Dragster RC is built for speed and inspired by the F4 RC, currently competing in the World Superbike Championship. In addition, the Dragster RC was produced in a very limited number of only 350 units and each bike comes with a certification plaque as well as a beautiful RC Corse cover. The RC also sports the color scheme and graphics (including the number “37”, a nod to the amount of world titles MV Agusta has achieved over the years) of the F4 RC superbike and a generous amount of carbon fiber.
Technically speaking, the Dragster RC is quite impressive. It is powered by an 800 (798) cc engine and supported by some innovative gadgetry. Like its Italian competitor, Moto Guzzi, the MV Agusta employs ride-by-wire technology for better fuel efficiency and control. For the Dragster RC, the company specially developed the engine mappings, including one that is completely customizable. The transmission boasts what some claim to be the best shift-assist on the market today, the EAS 2.0, that provides the rider with flawless shifting through a system that is generally used only on racing bikes. Including this feature on their street bikes is more than a luxury as it adds extra control and confidence. The Dragster RC also uses an exclusive traction control system that offers eight different levels of intervention.
Notable updates to the RC are an exhaust valve that is located in the exhaust manifold; a Harmonic Damper to reduce vibration and noise; valve-guide fitted cylinder heads with lubricant to reduce wear; new oil and water pump control gearing; a reinforced flywheel and redesigned starter mechanics to improve durability; an electronics system that is shared over the entire three-cylinder platform and new engine covers to help with noise reduction and protection in the event of a collision or impact.
Brembo brakes are supported by a Bosch 9 Plus ABS system and pack quite a necessary punch. Although the bike is relatively easy to handle, it is not recommended for new riders. The Dragster RR is best ridden by intermediate to experienced riders who can hone their already existing skills while enjoying the brute force of this very powerful motorcycle. The Dragster RR promises eye-watering speed and exhilaration, making it best suited to open roads over stifling freeways. Suspension is handled by Marzocchi in front and Sachs in the rear, both fully adjustable. The comfort and safety is enhanced by Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires as well as a manageable weight of just 370 pounds (dry).
The Dragster RC is both intuitive and agile, making it perfect for getting out onto twisty mountain roads where it handles itself stealthily. This motorcycle pushes the boundaries of technology, speed and power. With improved and increased horsepower, riders will experience a thrill unlike anything previously imagined. This bike is bound to draw the attention of riders and non-riders alike, so be prepared to answer a lot of questions and requests for photos.
